Dr. Chanu Rhee on the shift toward more comprehensive sepsis care

A new multi-society position paper outlines practical hospital-level strategies to improve sepsis outcomes. In an interview with Patient Safety Beat, lead author Chanu Rhee, MD, MPH, discusses the shift from focusing solely on early recognition and treatment to a more comprehensive approach spanning diagnosis, antimicrobial management, and care throughout hospitalization.

Massachusetts Sepsis Consortium reports and materials

Through the Massachusetts Sepsis Consortium, the Betsy Lehman Center worked with leading experts and advocates to create recommendations to improve sepsis care in emergency departments and post-acute care settings. The Consortium also helped develop an awareness campaign called Sepsis Smart that educates the public about the signs of sepsis and when to seek care.
