Learn how to work with your aide, what to expect on the first visit, and how to get the most out of your home care visit.
Home care aides play a key role in helping you maintain independence and stay healthy. Learning how to prepare for the first visit helps ensure the experience is both positive and safe.
Produced in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Lowell Safe Home Care Project, this video aims to guide consumers through the process of preparing their homes and understanding their role in creating a good working relationship with their aide. It accompanies a 31-page illustrated safety handbook that was created with input from home care organizations across the state.
The video and handbook are part of a research study funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (grant number R01OH008229). The illustrations are by John Klossner.
