In the first issue of Patient Safety, Editor-in-Chief Regina Hoffman emphasizes the new journal’s mission, saying, “Patient safety should not be a competition, and knowledge should be freely shared.”
Patient Safety is an open-access journal that charges no subscription or publication fees. It is published four times a year by the Patient Safety Authority, an independent state agency in Pennsylvania established in 2002 to promote patient safety by identifying problems and recommending solutions for health care providers in a variety of settings. Patient Safety is peer-reviewed and welcomes submissions from clinicians, administrators, patients and others with an interest in patient safety. The Betsy Lehman Center’s Executive Director, Barbara Fain, and Director of Research and Analysis, Julia Prentice, serve on the journal’s Editorial Board.
